I can’t believe it has only been a year since I made my MommyCon debut! The Badass Breastfeeder has grown by leaps and bounds since the day I hobbled atop shaky legs to the front of a room full of like-minded Mamas to talk about nursing in public. I promised that room full of Moms an army of the world’s most powerful and important people. This army has grown more than 5 fold since that day and we are as serious, passionate and strong as ever.
My mission is to empower Moms to connect to their instinctual voice; to question so-called “experts”; to challenge societal norms. I believe that when we peel back these layers we will all make the best decisions for our children. The decisions that are right for our individual families. This year I will take the stage again here in Chicago. This time I will be expanding on this message and discussing the concept of authority. Authority is all around us. In every aspect of our lives. I have found this concept particularly disturbing when it comes to birth, breastfeeding and parenting. In my personal experience I have been undermined by “authority” in all of these areas. I have come to question the concept of authority in a major way.
Who really is the ultimate authority when it comes to our children?
My sponsor Milkin’ Cookies makes it possible for me to be with you on this day. If you have not had the pleasure of trying their product I hope you will you join me at their booth to talk, laugh and overeat. You can purchase your tickets here. Be sure to use promo code “Badass”!
